It’s not very often that I get to take Mrs Gist out on a date; childcare, work and travel arrangements mean that adult-only time is seldom enjoyed in the Gist household. However, when we do get the pleasure of each other’s company, it’s nice to spend our time somewhere special.
Enter The Bloomsbury Club Bar.
Housed within The Bloomsbury Hotel, underneath the equally as charming alfresco restaurant Dalloway Terrace, The Bloomsbury Club Bar is an intimate and gorgeous venue. Atmospheric lighting, charming music from the roaring twenties, plush leather armchairs and dark mahogany tones create a cosy and stylish space that has so much character.
There is also an outside space, twinkly lights and winding shrubbery that, despite being in the middle of central London, feels like a peaceful European side street. A little bohemian sanctuary, if you will.
The Bloomsbury Club Bar has an impressive array of cocktails from the golden era of cocktail making, a number of forgotten recipes and techniques used by the bartenders to beautifully craft and present their art. Sitting at the bar and watching the guys at work is just as enjoyable as relaxing in one of the many nooks and crannies of The Bloomsbury Club Bar.
It’s charming, timeless and suave. There are few places in London that are able to pull off this level of romantic sophistication, but The Bloomsbury Club Bar pulls this off with real class.
Whilst all of my time here has revolved around showing colleagues what a fantastic whiskey collection looks like (honestly, ask Head Bartender Sebastian to show you his favourite Japanese whiskey… wow!), this is the next venue for an evening with Mrs Gist on date night and I couldn’t recommend it more as a romantic, intimate spot right in the heart of London.
